Meda properties worth RM14mil sold in Malacca [ 22/3/2003 ]

MEDA Inc Bhd, developer of the National Heritage Orchard and Country Resort (NHOCR) in Kuala Linggi, Malacca, has sold RM14mil worth of properties under phase 1, known as Nusa Dusun Orchard Resort, launched in August last year.

Its chief executive officer Ong Bok Siong said the company had managed to sell the properties, comprising bungalows and parcels of land, despite the ''stagnant'' property market because of the mixture of resort and farm living environment offered by the Nusa Dusun project.

''The entire NHOCR project, which is on 1,400 acres of former plantation land, will have total development cost of RM500mil,'' he said at the launch of Meda 48 and 23 financial packages for buyers of the Nusa Dusun Orchard project in Subang on Thursday.

The company also signed an agreement with several companies on the design, landscaping and maintenance work.

The companies are PT Bita Enarcon Engineering from Indonesia for architectural design, EDC Environmental Design Consultants Sdn Bhd for landscaping and the Summit Hotels group for maintenance.

According to Ong, the NHOCR would be built in six phases over five to six years. Besides bungalow lots, the project will also include chalets, an eco-farm, a clubhouse, medical centre, man-made lake as well as facilities for horse riding camping and trekking.

''We expect RM100mil in sales every year from the project for the next five to six years,'' he said.

Ong said the firm had decided to engage the services of PT Bita to infuse Balinese influence into the project, particularly in the construction of the resort hotel and chalets.
