OSK unit’s township up in 10 years [ 21/10/2004 ]

HOUSING developer OSK Properties Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of OSK Property Holdings Bhd, will launch the next three phases of Bandar Puteri Jaya in Sungai Petani next year, and will complete the township in 10 years.

Upon completion of all the phases, the company would have invested close to RM1bil on the township, OSK Property Holdings Bhd chief operating officer Gerard Tan said in an interview.

He added that a police beat base, a post office, a school and a hypermarket were among facilities that would soon come up.

The company is targeting to build 10,000 mixed development units over the next 10 years with 1,000 units scheduled to be built yearly.

Since the township was launched in early 1999, the company had developed and sold 3,900 mixed development units worth a total of RM400mil on a 284ha site. The remaining 784.4ha will be developed over the next 10 years at a cost of RM500mil.

Tan said: ''Bandar Puteri is gaining popularity daily and many people, including Penangites, are interested in buying houses there. To date, there are 20,000 residents in the township, and we are positive the number will continue to pick up.''

Among other features, the township has a lake-based recreational park on an 8ha site. There are plans for a second lake-based recreational area on a 10ha site, and a 12ha recreational facility.

OSK Property Holdings Bhd senior manager (sales and marketing) Stanley S.S. Wong said the company was transforming the township into a unique residential area with balanced development.

To promote the township, the company had launched lucky draws for purchasers from Oct 1 to Dec 31, with RM18,800 as the first prize, a large air-conditioner as second prize, and a washing machine as third prize, he said, adding that there would be a draw each month.
