3,000 MKLand condos with broadband [ 1/7/2004 ]

MKLAND Bhd subsidiary Saujana Triangle Sdn Bhd, the developer of Malaysia’s first e-lifestyle township, Damansara Perdana, plans to deliver 3,000 high-speed broadband-ready condominium units by the end of next year.

Chief operating officer Peter Chan said the company also planned to have 400 offices within the township enabled for both wired and wireless access.

''Currently, over 100 offices and 1,200 homes at Damansara Perdana are broadband-ready. We will have 2,000 houses equipped with broadband Internet and wireless-enabled facilities by the end of this year,'' Chan said at a media launch of the township in Petaling Jaya yesterday.

He said the cyber or e-lifestyle concept, made possible via a team up with Palette Multimedia Bhd, had helped boost its competitiveness and property sales at Damansara Perdana.

Chan said that despite the higher development costs, the broadband Internet and wireless feature had been considered for future development by MKLand group for ''competitiveness' sake''.

During the past year, Saujana Triangle had achieved RM500mil sales, consisting mainly of condominiums and shop lots, Chan said. The company has so far derived sales of RM1.8bil since it started the RM8.3bil project in 1996.

Developed on a 750-acre site, the Damansara Perdana township, on completion in 2011, will have 135 acres of approved commercial land and 14,500 residential properties comprising condominium units, serviced apartments, semi-detached houses and bungalows.

Among others, the township has Web-based wireless cameras deployed in a number of locations to allow residents and tenants to view different parts of the town over the Internet from anywhere in the world.

There are multiple data centres that will host content and applications so that these can be speedily accessed.

It is also the first township in Asean to be equipped with Yellowspot wireless broadband access, which allows global roaming.
