Construction of Bertam Business Park in Penang [ 04/11/2002 ]
CONSTRUCTION work on the proposed RM5 million Bertam Business Park in Kepala Batas, Penang, will begin in the middle of next year and is expected to be completed within 15 months.

PNS Development Sdn Bhd is developing the business park, which will be built on 1.6ha near Mini Putra Jaya.

PNS Development chief executive and general manager Haris Ahmad said the company is building financial and business centres at the business park.

“The project includes seven units of double-storey financial institutions, 21 units of office and shophouses, and an electric sub-station,” Haris said during a briefing at the Penang Golf Resort in Bertam, near Kepala Batas, yesterday.

Also present were PNS Development senior manager Mohd Hassan Mohd Salleh; Seberang Prai Utara (SPU) district officer Datuk Abdul Ghani Arrifin; and representatives from Seberang Prai Municipal Council (MPSP), various banks and financial institutions, and insurance companies.

Haris also noted the strategic location of the business park, which will be just a kilometre away from the North-South Expressway and Kepala Batas town.

“It can be accessed from the Penang Bridge in about 25 minutes,” he said.

The business park will also be situated near various government offices such as the proposed SPU district police headquarters, Bertam district hospital, MPSP Sports Complex and SPU district office.

The Bertam Business Park was proposed as a result of the growing administrative and commercial centre in Kepala Batas.

Haris said that the business park is also aimed at providing financial and business facilities to the residents in Kepala Batas.

“The park will also serve to transact financial and business matters within the same area,” he said.

Abdul Ghani said the SPU district office fully supports the project, which will be built in the heart of the new growth centre of Kepala Batas.

“I suggest that priority should be given to residents of Kepala Batas when allocation of the premises is carried out,” he said.
