KUANTAN: A masterplan to develop potential areas around seven interchanges of the East Coast Highway will be drafted soon, Pahang Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob said.
He said the highway would open up plenty of business opportunities once it was completed next year.
''The Economic Planning Unit has been instructed to do the study,'' he said after chairing the state exco meeting yesterday.
Adnan said the state would also ensure that speculators would not take advantage of the situation by buying land in the areas and selling them later at a higher price.
''Landowners should wait for the masterplan to be completed first before taking the next course of action.''
On another matter, Adnan reminded the public to be wary of some organisations which sought donations from the public by misusing the names of prominent people.
He said a man had lodged a police report on Monday when a group, believed to be from here, was said to have used such a tactic and even went to the extent of threatening him if he refused to donate.
Adnan said the group claimed the donations were to raise funds for the handicapped.
